The best place in the nation to buy art.

August 7, 2006 at 10:24 pm (Art News)

Did you know that the Pacific Northwest is one of the best places in the nation to buy art?  To paraphrase the New York Times, “…forget New York, go to the Northwest for art.”

Why?  Because we have a prolific community of artists creating exceptional works.  And artworks from our area are still affordable.  As the word gets out, you will find art prices increasing.  What does that say to you?  Buy now.

Art has traditionally been a great alternative investment and, according to Forbes Magazine, is gaining momentum as the stock market remains lackluster. As the old saying goes, you can kill two birds with one stone – add beauty and integrity to your environment with an original piece of art that speaks to YOU and invest in your future.

Art for Medical Facilities

August 2, 2006 at 2:52 am (Art News, Project News)

Did you know that studies have shown that art plays an important role in the healing process of patients in medical facilities? However, the type of art is an important factor. Representational landscapes reduce blood pressure and serve to calm patients, while non object abstract art was found to increase blood pressure. Also patients under stress often saw negative images within abstract works and found them to be disturbing.

Studio Art Direct recently provided a large medical facility in Oregon a proposal to install over $120,000 in regional art including commissioned paintings, sculpture and architectural embellishments as well as works currently available on the site. The client was not only provided with a complete custom designed program specific to their project and budget, but also detailed research information concerning the medicinal benefits of art in medical environments.
