Portland, Oregon, Oct. 31, 2012 –After more than year of curating, commissioning, designing and fabricating the art program, the project is nearly complete. Scheduled to open in August of 2013, Kaiser Westside in Hillsboro is the largest construction projects in Oregon. It is also the first large hospital and medical center built from the ground up in decades. The art program features about 975 works of art created exclusively by Oregon and Washington artist. The collection includes commissioned bronze sculpture and kiln formed glass sculpture, large-scale original paintings, art in architecture, and hundreds of custom fine art giclees created specifically for the project.
Based on the principles of Evidence Based Design, this art in healthcare project follows the over-arching theme of Tranquil Relief Through Nature. Each floor was sub themed by elements in nature.
